Planning around the gang
Every trip starts with a spreadsheet: pet-friendly accommodation, vets along the route, paperwork, food logistics. The animals do not care about the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet cares about them.
Rule one: the trip serves the animals at least as much as it serves us. If a place cannot host the whole family, the whole family does not go.
