⚡ Launch & Braking
Skills from the "Launch & Braking" section. Each one is a concrete action you can take right now, plus an explanation of why it works.
Can't Start
Can't start, though I know I have to
What you tell yourself"Я ленивая"
💡 2-Minute RuleWhat to do: Say aloud: "just 2 minutes". Set a timer. Start the dumbest part.
Why it works: The brain doesn't resist short intervals. Inertia and dopamine pull you forward.
I know what to do, but I don't do it
What you tell yourself"Нет мотивации"
💡 Anchor HabitWhat to do: Pick an existing habit (coffee). Immediately after, do the new thing.
Why it works: Uses an existing neural pathway. No motivation generation needed.
I procrastinate, I want it perfect
What you tell yourself"Я прокрастинатор"
💡 Ugly First DraftWhat to do: Write the first sentence as badly as possible. Literally.
Why it works: Perfectionism blocks the start. Permission to be ugly removes the block.
Sitting frozen, can't move
What you tell yourself"Что-то со мной не так"
💡 Countdown 5-4-3-2-1What to do: Count aloud: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. At "1" stand up or open the file.
Why it works: Counting activates motor cortex and interrupts the procrastination loop.
The task is huge
What you tell yourself"Не справлюсь"
💡 Micro-decompositionWhat to do: Break into 5-10 minute steps. Do only the first one.
Why it works: Each completed chunk gives a microdose of dopamine.
Brain wants to, body won't
What you tell yourself"Я сломана"
💡 Body FirstWhat to do: Stand up. Walk. Pour water. Then sit down to work.
Why it works: Physical movement activates dopamine before cognitive work begins.
Hyperfocus - Can't Stop
Stuck scrolling for hours
What you tell yourself"Моя суперсила"
💡 Soft TimersWhat to do: Time Timer or gentle vibration every 45-60 minutes. No harsh alarms.
Why it works: Gentle signal doesn't cause stress. Brain resists exit less.
Can't stop
What you tell yourself"Еще 5 минут..."
💡 Next StepWhat to do: Before focusing, write: "after this I do X". Put the note visibly.
Why it works: Transition is easier when the decision is already made.
Disoriented after snapping out
What you tell yourself"Где я, что случилось"
💡 Context SwitchWhat to do: Stand up. Leave the room. Change the lighting. Drink water.
Why it works: The brain ties the task to its environment. Changing the environment "closes the tab".
I don't hear people talking to me
What you tell yourself"Плевать на людей"
💡 Interruption PartnerWhat to do: Agree with someone: hand on shoulder or code word. Not shouting from across the room.
Why it works: Physical signal penetrates where voice in hyperfocus doesn't.
'Must' Blocks Me
I want to, but "must" blocks me
What you tell yourself"Саботирую себя"
💡 "I Choose"What to do: Replace "I must do the report" with "I'll work with the data for 20 min". Or: "I choose to do this now so I can go to a cafe tonight".
Why it works: "Must" activates dorsolateral PFC in coercion mode + stress response. "I choose" activates ventromedial PFC - autonomy zone. Different neural route.
Simple task, body says no
What you tell yourself"Ленивая"
💡 Element of ChoiceWhat to do: "Which part do I do first?" Give yourself a choice.
Why it works: Command = freeze response. Choice switches brain from threat to agency.
"Should" = disgust
What you tell yourself"Инфантильная"
💡 Word SwapWhat to do: Delete "should". Replace with "decided", "choosing", "want to".
Why it works: These words activate different brain areas, bypassing resistance.
Frozen before anything boring
What you tell yourself"Нормальные просто делают"
💡 Dopamine Pre-loadWhat to do: 5 minutes of something pleasant BEFORE the boring task.
Why it works: A brain with dopamine on board starts boring tasks more easily.
